I have attended in Solar Pi exploration which helps to install the computer labs for two government schools in Takeo province and in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The government schools are facing many problems with lack of technology education and limited to electricity. Our group wanted a computer lab to run on a solar panel system because it is environmental-friendly. Moreover, we intend to provide three curriculums with the computer labs, one being an English learning curriculum designed for Khmer speakers, teaching 3D design, and basic coding. I believe the new English program that we’re going to implement will improve students English skill a lot. Besides that, we’re also doing an evaluation of the English program and the 3D design to see if the program can be implemented in all government school or not. With a strong support from the Ministry of Education Youth and Sport, we’re lucky to make this plan going well.

Last week, our team went to install the computer labs at Toul Prasat Sen Sok High School and did the students training as well as teachers training. For students, we were explaining about the English program and the main tool of the program that needed to know before using the computer labs. Basically, it was an amazing day which we gave full energy to work for the future plans.

Moreover, I am responsible for checking up the progress of the English program in Takeo. So I will go to the school every month to follow up the school and also collect data from our system there. I love this project and as mentioned it’s my passion, so I really enjoy and enthusiastic about this project as always.

Along the way to New Hope for Cambodian Children foundation(NHCC), I was thinking about how they look because when I was young I have heard from other people saying that PLHIV looks skinny. But after I’ve been there, everything is opposite. Everyone were healthy and they live happily. The reason that we all have many expectations or stigma and myth about HIV because we’re uneducated about HIV.

Those kids that were in NHCC were orphans because their parents died from HIV/AIDS and their relative don’t want them and gave them to NHCC; but some of them, their parent don’t want them because they have HIV and they don’t want to spend money on the treatment. Those kids don’t have any place to go and if no one helps them they’ll die quickly. NHCC is the new home and new hope for them.

I still remember a boy learning in grade 4, coming from Kampong Cham since he was young and he has no idea who his parent was, his village or district. He mentioned that NHCC was his home and in the future, he wants to be a doctor. Then I continue asking why does he want to become a doctor and he replied that he wants to help other people in this world. He had made my day.

At NHCC, we’ve eaten launch with them and playing soccer as well. I felt like they are just a regular people like us, those myths and stigma are trash. They can do everything just like us.

In term of having HIV, you’ll face many problems such as education because the school will not open many opportunities for them and even if they want to be an employee they can’t too, as long as they keep the secret about it. If they don’t have job, they don’t have money to feed themself and health care or treatments. No one wants to take care PLHIV because of people stigmatization and myth about it, but mainly they are uneducated about HIV. Many of orphanage rejected to PLHIV and don’t care about their life. But again only NHCC is their new home, new hope.

I have attended in Dinosaur exploration which mainly researching about the footprints that have been found at Battambang. After the exploration has finished, we’re still working seriously on this project and have been working with Thai palaeontologist and French geologist and palaeontologist on this dinosaur footprints. After working so hard with the training sessions with them, we were having the trip to Battambang to the site and after a very closely look and deeply think about geology the footprint was not a dinosaur because these holds were the foot casts(the water flow which makes it into some type of three toes leg footprints). It was sad to hear that because we’ve worked on that project for a long time and hard work. But it was good for us to know that it was not the real dinosaur footprints. That’s why we want to work with experts on it. Though this is not the end and we’re keeping continue with this project and taking this project with a different angle. Now we’re thinking about making a museum that is storing fossils, rocks and many other things. Then we’re planning about educate people about geology and much more into the topic of science.
